The father of a 15-year-old boy who is accused of killing three children and a woman in a high-speed crash now faces felony charges for allowing the unlicensed teen take his car, according to reporting from the Miami Herald.

Richard Ferguson, 68, was charged Thursday with four counts of vehicular manslaughter in connection with the 2023 fatal crash. This is a second-degree felony that, if convicted, could carry up to 15 years in prison and/or up to $10,000 in fines.

The State Attorney’s Office also issued an arrest warrant for the teen, though it was not immediately clear whether or not he had been arrested as of Friday morning. He has yet to be named by authorities.

An elementary school principal and teacher face multiple charges after police broke up a house party where over 100 minors were drinking, according to reporting from the Miami Herald.

Elizabeth Hill-Brodigan, 47, of Cocoa Beach, was charged with an open house party, a liquor law violation, and contributing to a child’s delinquency. Both of these charges are misdemeanors in Florida. Hill-Brodigan also faces a felony charge of child neglect without great bodily harm, according to the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office. She was granted a $3,500 bond and released Saturday.

Hill-Brodigan is a principal at Roosevelt Elementary School, which is a part of the Brevard County School District.

Police have named the driver accused in a Thanksgiving hit-and-run incident near Miami International Airport that killed a pedestrian.

Gerson Jean, 38, was charged Friday with leaving the scene of a crash involving death and attempted tampering with physical evidence.

The incident happened just before 4 a.m. on Thanksgiving Day near 2100 Northwest 42nd Avenue, close to Miami International Airport. The pedestrian involved in the crash was seen on airport surveillance footage crossing the street when a gray Kia K5 hit them. Police say the car was being driven by Jean.

A bicyclist was killed after being hit by a car Tuesday morning in Miami. 

The crash, which allegedly left the bicyclist with a severe head injury, happened around 5:30 a.m. near Southwest 27th Avenue and 22nd Street, according to reporting from local news outlets. 

The bicyclist, a man in his 50s, was riding his bike in the opposite direction of oncoming traffic, police told reporters. He was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center in critical condition and later died from his injuries.

A mother, 20, and her 5-year-old son were seriously injured in a crash over the weekend in Allapattah, a neighborhood in the City of Miami,  officials told The Miami Herald

Emergency responders were called around 8:20 a.m. to the area of 1793 NW 20th St. on Friday where the mother’s car had been hit by another driver. Officials said that the mother allegedly crossed mid-block and not at the intersection, according to reporting from local news outlets. One car stopped but anther, who police told reporters did not see her vehicle, did not. 

Both were transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center with serious injuries but are said to have been in stable condition.

A motorcyclist riding near Miami International Airport died after crash that threw them over an overpass where they landed on train tracks, officials told The Miami Herald. 

The crash happened on exit 2 of State Road 112 near Miami International Airport. The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency responders. 

The Miami-Dade County Police Department’s Traffic Homicide unit is investigating the crash.

A fatal, overnight crash that killed one and left two others in the hospital caused parts of I-95 to still be shut down Friday morning. 

The crash happened around 2:20 a.m. near Northwest 119th Street on I-95 when a Dodge SUV driver lost control of the vehicle, slamming into a concrete wall, according to local media. 

A black Honda sedan crashed into the dodge and several others who were standing in the road.

A woman died after her car careened into a Broward County canal following a crash, police said.

Police were called out to the crash around 6 a.m. Wednesday in Cooper City after they received 911 calls about a car in the canal. The driver allegedly crashed into a bridge barrier and plunged into a nearby canal. 

There were at least two people in the car at the time of the crash, including the woman who was driving and a man who was able to make it out of the car, according to reporting from The Miami Herald.

Leesfield & Partners attorneys recently secured a confidential settlement for a woman and her 5-year-old son after a car drove into the Florida discount store where they waited at the checkout line. 

While the mother and son were waiting with other customers to pay for their items, a car came crashing through the store. The mother was able to pull her child out of the way but not before the crash tore through his right ankle, causing severe lacerations to an artery and tendons that required several invasive surgeries. As a result of the incident, the child had to undergo six different procedures in three weeks. 

Not only did the convenience store not have concrete security bollards installed at its entrance, but large cardboard boxes stacked up against the front of the store blocked the customers’ view, leaving them unaware of the approaching car until it was too late.

A girl, 7, who was hit by a car while walking with her mother outside of a Miami pharmacy Monday remains hospitalized in critical condition, officials say. 

The incident happened around 4 p.m. at a Navarro Pharmacy on  SW 32nd Ave. and 22nd St. when a 92-year-old woman in a Nissan SUV allegedly drove onto the sidewalk. Police told local news outlets that the woman was attempting to park her car when she mistakenly stepped on the accelerator. 

The woman was cited for driving recklessly and further charges are possible, police told reporters.
