Cutler Bay House Fire Leaves One Dead and Another Injured. What to Know.

Investigators have not released what they believe to be the likely cause of a Cutler Bay house fire that killed at least one person and left another hospitalized Friday.

Fire officials were called out to the blaze around 5:50 a.m. for a home on the 9700 block of Montego Bay Drive. When they arrived, they found heavy smoke coming from all sides of the home and rescued at least one person from inside, according to reporting from The Miami Herald. One other person self-evacuated.

Emergency responders took both people to the hospital where one of them was pronounced dead. As of Friday afternoon, the condition of the survivor had not been released.

Fire at North Miami Beach High-Rise Apartment Over the Weekend. What to Know.

Firefighters put out a blaze at a high-rise in North Miami Beach that caught fire overnight Saturday, according to reporting from The Miami Herald.

Emergency responders were called out to the area just before 7 p.m. Friday after getting reports that a 10-story apartment building near the 3700 block of Northeast 166th Street had caught fire. When they arrived, they found heavy smoke coming from an apartment on the sixth floor and evacuated everyone inside. The fire did not spread to nearby units.

At least three people were treated at the scene by paramedics but did not require transport to a nearby hospital. One resident told reporters that she noticed debris falling onto her balcony. She ran from her apartment and knocked on the doors of her neighbors to alert them before fleeing the building.

One Person Hospitalized Following Townhouse Fire in Homestead, officials say

A fire that broke out Monday night left at least one person hospitalized and several neighbors running from their beds and clamoring for their pets to get to safety.

Firefighters and emergency personnel were called out to the 4200 block of Northeast Ninth Street around 11 p.m. for the flames.

The person who was hospitalized has not been named, but officials told reporters with Channel 7 News that they were airlifted to the hospital in critical condition. The two-story home where the flames began had smoke damage and shattered windows following the fire.

Boat Explosion kills one, injured four others in Dania Beach

At least one person died and four others were hospitalized with severe burns following a boat explosion at a marina in Dania Beach, according to reporting from The Miami herald.

Man’s family awarded $2 million in lawsuit after he died from burn at Kentucky motel. What do places like hotels and rental properties owe customers?

The family of a 76-year-old Kentucky man was awarded over $2 million this month after his death from a burning incident in a motel shower, according to news outlets.

The incident happened in 2021 while the man was on a business trip. When he got in the shower, hot water estimated in the lawsuit to be 150 degrees Fahrenheit scalded him. The man fell and was unable to get up until coworkers who heard him screaming rushed into the bathroom to help. The man had third-degree burns following the incident and died seven months later after spending most of his time in and out of hospitals. Third-degree burns affect the deeper layers of the skin and burn down to the fatty tissue. They require immediate medical attention.

The lawsuit filed on behalf of the grieving family did not specify what caused the water to come out at 150 degrees. A judgment filed earlier this month stated that the hotel failed to properly inspect and maintain the property in a reasonably safe condition.

Underground tank explodes, leaving at least one man badly burned, officials say.

The Florida State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating a case of an explosion at a Broward gas station that left at least one man seriously injured Tuesday, according to the Miami Herald.

The explosion took place around 12:30 p.m. at the Mobil station at 26 S. Federal Highway in Hallandale Beach. A witness told fire rescue officials that there was an explosion that “shook the ground violently,” according to local reporting. A man in his 30s was found unconscious on the ground with second-and-third-degree burns and was later taken to Aventura Medical Center.

No other injuries were reported in this incident.
